ADDICTION COUNSELLING
My practice specialises in helping people struggling with addiction.
Addiction counselling is a highly specialised field that requires a unique set of skills and expertise not possessed by all therapists. With over 25 years of experience in addiction counselling, I began my career at the Department of Correctional Services and have since remained actively engaged in institutions offering both short and long-term addiction treatment.
My extensive experience enables me to assist patients in identifying addiction issues and guiding them towards the appropriate path to achieve sustained long-term sobriety.
Addressing addiction is a complex and challenging endeavour, and my primary aim is to furnish my clients, as well as their family members or other supporters, with the necessary support, guidance, and effective treatment to promote long-term recovery.
Through a combination of evidence-based therapy techniques like Rational Emotive Behaviour Therapy, I work with individuals and groups to develop coping strategies and emotional regulation that enables emotional and spiritual development. I work with individuals and groups to improve their mental and emotional well-being to live a healthy, fulfilling life in recovery. My approach is individualised, compassionate, and non-judgmental, and I work closely with my clients to create a safe and supportive environment for healing and growth.

COUPLES COUNSELLING
I have over 20 years’ of experience in helping couples overcome challenges and strengthen their relationships. Couples counselling can be an incredibly effective way to address issues such as communication difficulties, conflicts, infidelity, power dynamics and other challenges that can arise in a relationship.
Drawing on my extensive experience in forensic work, I have developed a particular specialisation in providing divorce guidance, particularly in matters pertaining to legal issues, finances, and custody of minor children.
My objective is to create a secure and nurturing space for couples, with a particular focus on guiding men, to delve into their concerns, recognise and tackle underlying issues, and cultivate effective strategies for fostering a more fulfilling and satisfying relationship.
In my practice, I use a combination of techniques to help couples improve their communication, build trust and intimacy, and develop the skills necessary to navigate challenges and conflicts in a constructive, positive way. I work collaboratively with couples to develop personalised treatment plans and practical strategies that are tailored to their specific needs and goals.

INDIVIDUAL THERAPY
As a psychologist who offers individual counselling, I work with people to help them navigate and overcome the challenges they may be facing in their personal or professional lives.
Through the counselling process, I help clients gain insight into their thoughts, feelings, and behaviours, and develop strategies for coping with difficult emotions and situations.
My approach to counselling is grounded in evidence-based techniques like Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT) and Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT) – and tailored to meet the unique needs of each individual client.
I am also able to conduct psychometric testing should this be required. I believe that everyone has the capacity for growth and change and that therapy can be a powerful tool for enhancing mindfulness and creating an atmosphere for personal development, growth and well-being.

FORENSIC TESTING & COURT REPORTS
If you require forensic testing or court reports, I’m here to help. I offer comprehensive forensic testing and court report services, applying psychological principles and techniques to legal matters, and providing objective and accurate assessments to assist with legal decision-making, particularly in divorce proceedings and pre-sentence reports to guide the court on the sentence and rehabilitation recommendations.
My role includes offering impartial and evidence-based evaluations to facilitate legal decisions and proceedings, particularly in the domains of sexual offenders and divorce cases.
I prepare court reports that summarise my findings and provide an expert opinion on the matter at hand.
These reports are based on thorough evaluations and assessments and are intended to be used as evidence in court proceedings.
My approach is professional, objective, and focused on providing the information and insights needed to support legal decision-making.
